Spalted Black Birch Banded Bowl
I love working with black birch because there's so much variation. As it ages fungi enter the wood and as they begin to break it down they leave behind beautiful colors and pattersn. With age the wood also becomes darker, an almost honey brown color. I really like the color and variation in this bowl. It's a great size for snacking on popcorn on the couch, for serving salad to a small group or one hungry individual or for hot or cold sides.
