These End Grain Cutting Boards are built to last a lifetime!

Made for daily use, these End Grain cutting boards are specially designed to withstand years of heavy chopping. End grain boards orient the wood vertically through the board which keeps your knife from chopping through the fibers. This keeps the wood from breaking down through use and leaves the surface looking newer longer. Even after years of use, the surface and pattern will look fresh!

These boards are time consuming and labor intensive to build but the results are worth it! Most wooden boards are constructed by gluing strips of wood together laterally to create the cutting surface. This type of build fails to utilize the wood’s natural qualities. By resawing and adding a second glue up the fibers can be oriented vertically for durability.

But these boards take it a step, or 5, further. After reorienting the wood for durability, the boards are resawn 4, 5, 6 or more times then jumbled up and reassembled to create these “chaotic” patterns. This adds time to the build, but also breaks down larger blocks of wood which hold tension that can sometimes lead to cracks.

Cleaning is easy with soap and water. Occasionally, the board can be oiled using Mineral Oil or Cutting Board Oil from the Real Milk Paint Co. to keep the board looking fresh and improving it’s ability to repel water.

By properly utilizing woods natural qualities, using the correct woods and glue, and building a thick board that holds together permanently a lifelong kitchen companion with a unique look it born!
